Ingredients

  • 1 block tofu firm or extra firm
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Press your tofu to remove as much water as possible. Press for at least 15 minutes.
  • When ready to start cooking, preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  • Crumble the pressed tofu into a bowl, resembling ground beef.
  • In a separate small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  • Pour the seasoning mixture over the crumbled tofu. Gently toss until the tofu is evenly coated with the seasoning.
  • Spread the seasoned tofu evenly onto the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the tofu starts to brown and becomes slightly crispy, stirring halfway through for even cooking.
  • Once baked, remove from the oven and use it as a substitute for ground beef in various dishes like tacos, pasta sauce, stir-fries, or any other recipe calling for ground meat.
